Bhakti Shringarpure

Bhakti Shringarpure is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Connecticut's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and founding editor of Warscapes, an influential open-access digital initiative established in 2011 that publishes fiction, reportage, poetry, interviews, reviews, art, and photography focused on contemporary conflicts.

Her research spans Postcolonial Literature, Global South Studies, Migration Studies, and Digital Humanities, with particular emphasis on how literary and artistic forms can illuminate political crises and human rights issues. Warscapes has become a significant platform for underrepresented voices from conflict zones worldwide.

Shringarpure co-edited the 2018 book 'Mediterranean: Migrant Crossings' which explores refugee experiences through multiple creative lenses including fiction by Edwidge Danticat and Maaza Mengiste, photography by Mario Badagliacca, and narrative reporting from detention centers.

Her editorial work demonstrates a commitment to interdisciplinary approaches that bridge academic scholarship with creative expression to address urgent global issues.
