Betty Simkins

Betty Simkins is the Williams Companies Chair and Regents Professor of Finance at Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business, where she also serves as Head of the Department of Finance. She holds a Ph.D. in Finance from Case Western Reserve University, an MBA from Oklahoma State University, and a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas.

• Current roles: Editor/founding co-editor of the Journal of Commodity Markets; serves on editorial boards of 11 journals
• Professional memberships: Natural Gas and Energy Association of Oklahoma (NGEAO), Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Financial Management Association International

Her research focuses on risk management, energy finance, and corporate governance. She has coauthored over 70 journal articles and book chapters and authored three books on energy finance and risk management. She teaches energy finance courses and executive education globally.

Betty has received multiple teaching and research awards at OSU and was appointed to the Commodity Futures Trading Commission’s Market Risk Advisory Committee in June 2018.
