Betsy Becker

Betsy Becker is an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Physical Therapy program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), serving as Chair of the Department of Health & Rehabilitation Sciences within the College of Allied Health Professions. She is a Certified Lymphedema Therapist with the Lymphology Association of North America since 2001 and holds licensure in Nebraska and Arizona as a physical therapist.

Education includes a PhD in Medical Sciences (2018), DPT from University of South Dakota (2014), and MPT from UNMC (1999). She earned credentials as a Credentialed Clinical Instructor (2002) and the American Academy of Medical Colleges' Medical Education Research Certificate (2018).

Her research focuses on cancer rehabilitation, educational technology, faculty development, and student wellness. Notable achievements include the 2019 Stanford Award for her work on professional networks and scholarly productivity in physical therapy education. Dr. Becker has published extensively on social network analysis in education, interprofessional collaboration, and curriculum innovation.

Her work bridges clinical practice and academia through studies on lifestyle medicine integration in curricula, virtual communities for faculty development, and strategies to enhance student and faculty wellbeing. She has led initiatives to improve rural healthcare education and global physical therapy partnerships with China.
