Betsy Bates Freed, PsyD, an Adjunct Faculty member at Antioch University, is a medical journalist and clinical psychologist specializing in psychosocial aspects of cancer care. She holds a BA from Denison University and MA/PsyD from Antioch University Santa Barbara, and currently works with children and adolescents at the Santa Barbara County Alcohol, Drug, and Mental Health Children’s Clinic while leading support groups at the Cancer Center of Santa Barbara.

Her research focuses on psychosocial support for prostate cancer patients and effects of work-related losses on cancer adjustment. She also writes a weekly blog for The Oncology Report and teaches graduate workshops on academic writing.
