Bethan Thomas

Dr. Bethan Thomas is a Human Tissue Research Compliance Officer and Researcher at the Swansea University Medical School (School of Biomedical Sciences). She holds a BEng in Medical Engineering (2010) and a PhD in diagnostic technology from Swansea University, focusing on blood clot biophysics and immunology. Her work includes EPSRC-funded research in blood diagnostics and collaborations with clinicians, pharmacists, and multinational companies.

Teaching responsibilities include modules on medical diagnostic techniques and nanotechnology applications in healthcare. Research expertise spans rheology, biomaterials, thrombotic disease, and cleanroom fabrication. She actively engages in public science initiatives, including workshops on non-Newtonian fluids and presenting medical prototypes at the Natural History Museum.

Current roles include postgraduate supervision and involvement in the Energy Security Research Institute. Her research portfolio includes advancing biocompatible material analysis and microelectronic testing methodologies.
