Beth McGowan

Beth McGowan is an Associate Professor and Librarian at Northern Illinois University, affiliated with the departments of English and Health Sciences. She holds a Graduate Certificate in Health Sciences Librarianship from the University of Pittsburgh, an MLIS from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and a PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Pennsylvania, focusing on Renaissance and Reformation studies in France and England.

Her research interests bridge the historical dimensions of librarianship with the evolution of reading and writing practices. She provides critical support in academic services, including library instruction, digitization, and resource management, as evidenced by her roles in the Founders Learning Commons and other university initiatives.
