Berta Cano Echevarría serves as Full Professor of English Literature in the Department of English Philology at the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, University of Valladolid. She currently coordinates the Interuniversity Master's Degree in Advanced English Studies: Languages and Cultures in Contact (UVA-USAL) and previously directed the Department of English Philology (2014-2021) and UVA Language Center (2006-2011).
Her research examines Anglo-Hispanic cultural networks during the Early Modern period, with specialized focus on Shakespeare-Cervantes connections, diplomatic literature, and transnational textual transmission between the Iberian Peninsula and British Isles. As coordinator of the "Networks of Exchange" research group, she investigates historical intercultural dialogues through literary and archival frameworks.
Professor Cano Echevarría leads State Research Agency-funded projects including "Missions and Transmissions: Exchanges between the Iberian Peninsula and the British Isles in the Modern Age" (2021-2024) and its predecessor (2016-2020), alongside the knowledge transfer initiative "The English Route: From Cervantes to Shakespeare" which materializes historical connections through cultural itineraries.
