Bert Young

Bert Young is a Senior Lecturer in Construction, Property and Surveying at London South Bank University (LSBU), where he serves as Course Director for the PgD/MSc Quantity Surveying programs. With over 30 years of industrial experience as a Director in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management, his expertise bridges academia and practice. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate modules including Measurement, Contract Administration, and Advanced Documentation. His research focuses on Construction Innovation, Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), Fire Safety in High-Rise Buildings, and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Research Interests: Construction Innovation, Diffusion of Innovation (DoI), Offsite Technologies, Health and Safety in Construction, Urban Sustainability, and Fire Safety. Recent work includes analyzing air pollution from construction activities, AI's role in education, and infrastructure challenges in the UK.

His publications span infrastructure development, BIM adoption in SMEs, and pandemic impacts on construction. He actively supervises postgraduate and undergraduate research without listed formal awards.
