Bernhard Graf is an Honorary Professor at the Institute of Journalism and Communication Studies, Department of Politics and Social Sciences, Free University of Berlin, serving since 2000. He previously directed the Institute for Museum Research at the Berlin State Museums (1993–2019) and worked there as a Scientific Assistant (1980–1993). He holds a Diploma in Educational Science from PH Freiburg (1976) and a Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg (1978).
Research interests focus on science communication in museums, future science topics, museological research, evaluation methodologies, and audience engagement. Key projects include:
- TOPOI Excellence Cluster (Principal Investigator, 2007–2019)
- FUTURIUM exhibition concept development (2015–2019)
- KULMON Visitor Monitoring Project (2017–2019)
- Evaluations for DASA Dortmund (2020–2021, 2010–2011), UNESCO Site Lorsch (2017–2019), and Austrian Federal Museums (2003–2005)
Committee roles encompass advisory boards for Senckenberg (since 2020), Deutsches Museum (Chair, since 2018), FUTURIUM (Chair, since 2015), and others. Memberships include ICOM Germany and the German Museums Association.
