Bernd Beber

Bernd Beber is a Senior Researcher at RWI - Leibniz Institute for Economic Research in Berlin. Previously, he served as an Assistant Professor at New York University and held a research fellowship at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center, where he retains a visiting appointment. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University.

His research focuses on the political economy of conflict and development, the role of international institutions in fragile states, migration dynamics, and causal inference methodologies, with a regional emphasis on sub-Saharan Africa. He has led field projects in Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Nigeria, Liberia, Sudan, and South Sudan.
