Benoît Turquety is an Associate Professor at the Section of History and Aesthetics of Cinema, University of Lausanne, since 2019. He holds a PhD from the University of Paris 8 (2005) and previously taught at the École nationale supérieure Louis-Lumière.
His research focuses on the intersection of cinematographic techniques and their epistemological foundations, extending into digital cinema practices. Key works include Danièle Huillet and Jean-Marie Straub (2009) and Inventing Cinema (2014), which investigate film aesthetics through interdisciplinary lenses.
As part of the Systèmes research group, his work bridges film history with material and technological studies. He has consistently contributed to advancing scholarship on avant-garde cinema and film poetics.
