Benoit Robert

Benoit Robert is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Ottawa, specializing in Family Medicine. He holds multiple leadership roles in long-term care (LTC) and geriatric healthcare. His affiliations include the Ontario Long-Term Care Clinicians, where he serves as President, and the Canadian Geriatric Society's Provincial Geriatric Leadership Office (CGS-PGLO). He is also a member of the HSO Long-Term Care Services Technical Committee and the ISMP Strengthening Medication Safety in LTC Advisory Table.

Dr. Robert's research interests focus on aging, palliative care, chronic diseases in the elderly, and health services optimization in LTC settings. He has pioneered initiatives such as the Community of Practice - LTC, emphasizing advance care planning and outbreak management (e.g., for COVID-19). He also contributed to Pallium Canada’s LEAP-LTC course as a master facilitator.

His professional roles include Chief Medical Officer at Perley Health since 2011 and Primary Care Lead for the Ottawa Health Team/Équipe Santé Ottawa. He has held board memberships with Ontario Long-Term Care Clinicians and the Local Health Integration Network (LHIN). Educational contributions include teaching in the Medical Directors' Course and Health Quality Ontario’s IDEAS program.

Dr. Robert holds an MD from the University of Ottawa (1986), an MBA (1995), and a Bachelor of Science in Biology (1982), all from the same institution.
