Benjamin Thompson is a Senior Research Fellow at Monash University's Human Geography Anthrop & Devel Studies department. He specializes in biodiversity conservation, environmental finance, and marine ecosystems. Thompson holds a PhD from the National University of Singapore and an MSc from Imperial College London, with postdoctoral experience at the University of Sydney. His research focuses on governance mechanisms for nature-based solutions, including blockchain applications in supply chains and blue finance initiatives. He is currently leading an ARC DECRA Fellowship (2024–2026) on sustainable marine conservation models.
Thompson's work bridges academic and real-world impact, collaborating with NGOs, governments, and businesses. He teaches courses such as Environmental Analysis and Corporate Sustainability at Monash. His research has been published in journals like Nature Communications and Global Environmental Change, and he has received awards for both research and teaching excellence.
