Dr. Benjamin T. Hayes is an Assistant Professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He earned his MD from UC San Francisco and completed residency in Montefiore's Primary Care/Social Internal Medicine Program (2019) and a research fellowship in General Internal Medicine. Previously, he held MSW and MPH degrees from the University of Michigan and worked as a social worker supporting homeless youth and individuals with HIV.
His research aims to improve care for people with opioid use disorder through expanded buprenorphine access in non-traditional settings and bridging primary care with harm reduction practices. Current NIH K23-funded projects study low-dose buprenorphine initiation and in-patient protocols for opioid misuse and chronic pain.
