Benjamin Sprecher

Benjamin Sprecher is an Assistant Professor at TU Delft’s Faculty of Industrial Design Engineering, specializing in sustainable design, environmental impact quantification, and industrial ecology. His research bridges product design decisions with systemic concepts like circular economy and explores critical raw materials and supply chain resilience.

• Education: PhD and postdoc at Leiden University’s Institute of Environmental Sciences (CML), postdoc at Yale University’s Center for Industrial Ecology.
• Research Interests: Bio-based materials, aviation sustainability, EU raw material policy, and disruption modeling in supply chains.

Recent work includes analyzing bio-based plastics’ environmental impacts, flight operations’ climate effects, and EU self-sufficiency in critical raw materials for e-mobility. He has advised on geopolitical resource challenges and participated in projects like Faster H2 addressing hydrogen fuel design.
