His work focuses on biodiversity responses to global change, particularly amphibian ecology and wildlife disease. He has a PhD in Ecology from ANU (2011–2014) and held postdoctoral positions at James Cook University and ANU before becoming an ARC DECRA Fellow (2021–2023). His research integrates field ecology, population modeling, and global comparisons to predict species' futures and inform conservation.
Education:
- PhD in Ecology, Australian National University (2011–2014)
Research Interests: Scheele investigates species' variable responses to global change, including climate shifts and invasive pathogens. He explores amphibian declines caused by chytridiomycosis and promotes sustainable land practices like farm dam management. His work spans biodiversity conservation, disease ecology, and agricultural sustainability.
Projects: Current projects include
- Grassy ecosystem restoration in southeastern Australia
- Ecological monitoring methods for a Nature Repair Market
Advising & Grants: Registered to supervise research students. Active in securing grants, including the ANU Futures Scheme 2.0 (2023–2028) and projects on small mammal monitoring and biodiversity metrics.
