Benjamin R. Siegel is Associate Professor of History and Associate Department Chair at Boston University. His research focuses on transnational economic life, modern South Asia, environmental history, and the history of medicine. He holds a B.A. from Yale University and A.M./Ph.D. from Harvard University.
His major works include Hungry Nation: Food, Famine, and the Making of Modern India (2018) and the forthcoming The Ghost Ship: Pharmaceutical Opioids and Political Power in the Modern World (2025). Current research explores global histories of childcare, automation's impact on labor in India, and resource valuation across the 20th century.
