About
Benjamin Owen is Professor of Physics at UMBC's College of Natural and Mathematical Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Caltech and B.S. from Sonoma State University. Following postdoctoral positions at Max Planck Institute and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, he held faculty appointments at Penn State and Texas Tech.
Research Focus: His work centers on novel gravitational wave detection using LIGO, LISA, and Cosmic Explorer observatories. He investigates extreme matter physics through neutron star phenomena and black hole mergers.
Publications: Recent studies advance gravitational wave detector networks and constrain emissions from compact objects, enhancing our understanding of cosmic cataclysms.
