Benjamin Ogden is a Teaching Assistant Professor at the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Stevens Institute of Technology. He holds a PhD in English from Rutgers University (2013). His research focuses on Twentieth Century Fiction, South African Literature and Politics, Global Literature, the History of Courage, and Psychoanalysis. He has been actively involved in institutional service roles, including chairs of the Literary Salon, Palaver: A Journal of Ideas, and the Farber Prize judging panel. Notable awards include the Spencer L. Eddy Prize (Honorable Mention) for literary scholarship.
Dr. Ogden has secured multiple grants, including Mellon Foundation research grants supporting archival work on J.M. Coetzee, the Rwandan genocide, and South Africa’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Courses taught include HLI 495 (Globalization in Literature and Film), HHS 495 (History of Human Courage), and CAL 103/105. His co-authored book The Analyst's Ear and the Critic's Eye explores intersections of psychoanalysis and literature. Recent publications include reviews in English Studies and The International Journal of Psychoanalysis.
