Benjamin Koerber is an Associate Professor in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at Rutgers University. His work focuses on Arabic literature, particularly vernacular forms and socio-linguistic dynamics in North Africa. He holds a Ph.D. in Middle Eastern Languages and Literatures from the University of Texas at Austin.
Research interests include Judeo-Arabic print culture, Tunisian performance genres, and intersections between Jewish and Muslim literary traditions. He is currently writing two books: an anthology of Judeo-Arabic press materials and a study on Tunisia's vernacular literary history. Koerber has translated seminal works like Hussein Nassereddine's How to see the palace pillars as if they were palm trees and Ahmed Naji's Using Life.
His creative outputs include a chapbook Qatatis Bikri blending folklore and speculative fiction. His articles appear in journals such as Arabica and Journal of Arabic Literature.
