Dr Benjamin Hunter is a Lecturer in International Political Economy at the University of Glasgow, specializing in the political economy of development and global health financing. He holds degrees from the University of Cambridge, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, and King's College London. His research focuses on development finance, private finance in global health, and the global healthcare economy. He leads the Unsettling Healthcare initiative and is affiliated with The Collective for the Political Determinants of Health and the Editorial Board of Globalization and Health.
Key research themes include financialization of healthcare, market-making in social sectors, and regulatory capitalism. His work examines case studies in India, China, and the UK, exploring how private finance influences healthcare systems and global health equity.
