About
Dr Benjamin Davison is a Researcher at the School of Geography and Planning, University of Sheffield. He joined the university in 2024 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate after serving as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Leeds (2021–2024).
- Education
- BSc (First Class) in Physical Geography, University of Sheffield (2016)
- MSc (First Class) in Polar and Alpine Change, University of Sheffield (2017)
- PhD in Glaciology, University of St Andrews (2021)
Research Interests
Ben Davison specializes in the dynamics of polar ice sheets, with a focus on the Greenland and Antarctic Ice Sheets. His work examines how atmospheric and oceanic conditions influence ice flow and mass balance, utilizing satellite remote sensing, fieldwork, and numerical ocean circulation modeling. Current research investigates short-term ice flow variations on the Antarctic Peninsula, combining ESA’s Sentinel satellite data with regional climate models to analyze the impacts of surface melting on ice dynamics.
Professional Background
From 2021 to 2024, he contributed to the European Space Agency’s Polar+ Ice Shelves and Southern Ocean-Ice Sheet Interactions projects at the University of Leeds. He rejoined the University of Sheffield in 2024 to advance his studies on ice sheet-climate interactions.
