About
Benjamin Daniels is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth & Environmental Sciences at Mount Royal University. His research focuses on characterizing the evolution of ancient sedimentary basins over millions of years, with applications in petroleum exploration, aquifer characterization, and carbon sequestration initiatives.
He employs techniques such as sedimentary facies analysis, petrophysical data interpretation, geophysical data analysis, sequence stratigraphic methods, basin-scale sediment-routing evaluation, and reservoir-scale geocellular modeling. Current projects examine Cretaceous-era petroleum- and water-bearing units in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin across Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan.
Dr. Daniels is also deeply committed to geoscience education, aiming to make course offerings more accessible to individuals from all backgrounds and supporting career development for future geoscientists.
