Benjamin D. Schmack

Benjamin D. Schmack is a Lecturer in the Department of American Studies at the University of Kansas. He holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from the University of Kansas (2022), an M.A. in History from Northern Illinois University (2015), and a B.A. in History from the same institution (2011). Before his current role, he served as a Visiting Assistant Professor of American Studies at Kenyon College (2023-2024) and a Public History Postdoctoral Associate at the Boston University Center for Antiracist Research (2022-2023).

His research focuses on radical social movements emerging from the U.S. Left and their state repression during the 20th century. This work integrates historical analysis with interdisciplinary approaches to social justice and political activism.
