The Hebrew University of JerusalemAbout
Prof. Benjamin Aroeti is a Professor in the Department of Biological Chemistry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem's Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences. His research focuses on the cell biology of infectious diseases, particularly mechanisms by which enteric bacterial pathogens such as EPEC and EHEC attack intestinal epithelial cells and cause disease. He explores host defense mechanisms, membrane traffic dynamics, and inflammatory bowel diseases.
Research interests include membrane domains, epithelial cell polarity, and developing diagnostic technologies for gut diseases. His lab investigates host-pathogen interactions to uncover fundamental cellular processes and develop therapeutic strategies.
Lab members include PhD students Shreya Banerjee and Ipsita Nandi, and lab manager Efrat Zr. Contact information is available via email at aroeti@mail.huji.ac.il.
