Benedito Machava is an Assistant Professor at Yale University's Department of History. He holds a PhD from the University of Michigan and specializes in colonial and post-colonial African history with focus on Mozambique.
His research examines liberation struggles, decolonization processes, socialist experiments, and the intersection of carcerality and citizenship. Current projects include a book manuscript analyzing reeducation camps and moral politics in socialist Mozambique (1974-1990).
