Bendi Tso is a sociocultural anthropologist specializing in borderlands, nationalism, ethnicity, and oral traditions in China. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of British Columbia in 2023 and is currently a fellow (2023–2024) engaging in ethnographic research that challenges dominant frameworks of ethnicity in studies of China's ethnic minorities.
- Research Focus: Sino-Tibetan borderlands, negotiation of cultural identities, essentialized Tibetanness, and transitions among Tibetan subgroups.
