Ben Wang

Ben Wang is an Associate Professor in Economics at Macquarie University's Department of Economics, affiliated with Macquarie Business School. He holds roles as Strategic Corporate Engagement Coordinator, ESA NSW Treasurer (since 2022), and CESA council member (since 2018). His PhD from Macquarie University earned a Vice-Chancellor’s commendation.

Research focuses on three pillars: 1) Expectation formation driven by news, 2) Economic uncertainty measurement and impacts, and 3) Monetary policy communication effects. Key areas include consumer/business expectations, policy uncertainty, central bank communication strategies, and labor market outcomes for immigrants/refugees.

Notable outputs include work on housing price networks, macroeconomic disagreement indices, and refugee migration policy analysis. His 2023 paper on social assimilation and labour markets was widely cited (14 Scopus citations).

Grants include ARC funding, Estia Health industry support, and DAAD sponsorship. He has collaborated with Reserve Banks of Australia and New Zealand, and participated in 6 research projects since 2016. Awards include his Vice-Chancellor’s commendation for doctoral work.
