Ben Reid

Dr Ben Reid serves as an Assistant Professor in Space Environment Engineering within the School of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering at the University of Birmingham. His academic appointment resides in the Department of Electronic, Electrical and Systems Engineering, where he leads research in operational space weather forecasting methodologies.

Dr Reid specializes in space environment data assimilation through advanced particle filter development for highly non-linear time-dependent measurement systems. His research focuses on transforming complex space weather data streams into actionable operational models, with documented creation and maintenance of real-time forecasting systems including A-CHAIM and AIDA. This work bridges theoretical data science with practical space weather prediction requirements for critical infrastructure protection.
