Dr. Ben Rathsam serves as Department Chair for Criminal Justice and Pre-Law and Associate Professor of Government at Liberty University's Helms School of Government. He is the primary coach for the Moot Court & Mock Trial Teams and holds a J.D. and B.S. in Criminal Justice from Liberty University. As a licensed attorney in Virginia, he previously practiced family law, criminal defense, and elder law.
Research Interests: His work focuses on criminal justice systems, governmental policy, legal theory, and practical applications in family law, criminal defense, and elder law. He integrates litigation experience into academic instruction and team coaching.
Teaching & Leadership: Dr. Rathsam teaches courses including Legal Research and Writing, Jurisprudence, Torts, and Advanced Logic and Legal Reasoning. He founded Liberty University's Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society chapter and actively mentors competitive advocacy teams.
