Ben Knudsen is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Northeastern University. He holds a PhD in Mathematics from Northwestern University. His research focuses on algebraic topology, including configuration spaces of manifolds and graphs, topological robotics, stability phenomena, factorization homology, embedding calculus, Lie algebras, and stratified differential topology. He currently organizes Northeastern’s topology seminar and maintains an active lab group.
Dr. Knudsen has taught a variety of courses including Linear Algebra (Math 2331), Topology 1–3 (Math 5121/7221/7321), and Algebra 1 (Math 5111) across multiple semesters from 2019 to 2025. His office is located in 460 Lake Hall, and he can be reached at b.knudsen@northeastern.edu.
While no specific awards are listed, his academic contributions are highlighted through his extensive teaching record, research focus areas, and seminar leadership. His work bridges foundational topology with applications in robotics and geometric structures.
