Ben Hoffman

Ben Hoffman is a Senior Lecturer in Biomechanics at the University of Southern Queensland's School of Health and Medical Sciences. His research investigates muscle-tendon mechanics, respiratory physiology, and neuromuscular adaptations to training.

Hoffman's doctoral work analyzed exercise-induced muscle damage in humans, with ongoing studies examining respiratory muscle biomarkers in post-COVID recovery and age-related changes in respiratory responses. He employs ultrasonography and electromyography to study jumping biomechanics and martial arts performance.

Publications focus on respiratory muscle damage biomarkers, eccentric stretching protocols, and ballistic training adaptations. Current doctoral supervision includes projects on patellar tendon health in athletes and respiratory limitations during load carriage.
