About
Belinda Robson is Associate Professor in the School of Environmental and Conservation Sciences at Murdoch University's College of Environmental and Life Sciences. As a freshwater ecologist, she investigates climate change impacts on aquatic ecosystems, specializing in drought refuges, intermittent river ecology, and biodiversity conservation in drying climates. Her research has identified novel drought refuges and invertebrate responses to hydrological change.
Education includes:
- Ph.D. in Zoology, University of Tasmania (1991-1995)
- BSc (Hons 1st class) in Biology, Murdoch University (1989-1990)
- BSc in Biological Sciences, Murdoch University (1986-1988)
Honors and awards:
- Hilary Jolly Medal, AFSS (2021)
- Early Career Excellence Award, Australian Society for Limnology (2005)
- Vice-Chancellor's Research Award
As Editor-in-Chief of Freshwater Biology, she oversees global research dissemination in aquatic sciences. Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on climate adaptation strategies for freshwater biodiversity, with recent work quantifying diversity losses in drying landscapes and developing ecosystem classification frameworks.
