Becky Boyles

Becky Boyles is a Professor of the Practice at the School of Data Science and Society at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She also serves as Deputy Director of RENCI (Renaissance Computing Institute), overseeing its research division and strategic vision. Previously, she was Founding Director of RTI International's Center for Data Modernization Solutions and the first Data Scientist at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS).

Her research focuses on FAIR data principles and developing data ecosystems to address public health challenges. She bridges research and IT by creating actionable data solutions for societal benefit. Her work emphasizes maximizing data-driven decision-making through interdisciplinary collaboration.

Boyles has held leadership roles in strategic development, including defining data infrastructure at NIEHS and building RTI's data innovation center. Her expertise spans environmental health, data management, and translational research.
