Beate Rodewald

Beate Rodewald serves as Associate Professor of English in the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Palm Beach Atlantic University, where she has been a dedicated faculty member since 1989. She actively participates in the Modern Language Association of America and the Society for Utopian Studies, presenting research at national and international conferences.

Her academic foundation includes a PhD in English from Kent State University, an MA in English from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania, and a BA in French and English from the University of Freiburg.

Dr. Rodewald specializes in utopian studies, science fiction, and fantasy through comparative and interdisciplinary lenses, while also investigating intentional communities and historical artists' colonies. Her teaching portfolio encompasses Literature and the Arts, Literary Theory, and seminars within the Honors Program’s Great Books curriculum, reflecting her commitment to interdisciplinary humanities education.
