Beate Ego

Prof. Dr. Beate Ego is a Professor of Old Testament Exegesis and Theology at the Faculty of Protestant Theology, Ruhr University Bochum. Her research focuses on exegetical, theological, and religious-historical aspects of Old Testament literature and Second Temple period texts, particularly issues of cosmology, temple theology, angelology, and anthropological concepts like learning and identity. She has authored/co-authored over 100 scholarly works, including monographs, commentaries, and articles on Tobit, Esther, Dead Sea Scrolls, and midrashic literature. Key publications include critical editions of biblical texts, studies on angelological theology, and analyses of diaspora Judaism's textual traditions. Ego is co-editor of major reference works like the Calwer Bibellexikon and contributes to interdisciplinary dialogues on early Jewish and Christian thought.
