About
Professor Bassam Izzuddin is a Professor of Computational Structural Mechanics at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Imperial College London. His research focuses on advanced nonlinear finite element analysis, structural behavior under extreme loading (blast, impact, fire, earthquakes), and robustness assessment of tall buildings. He leads the Computational Structural Mechanics (CSM) Group and has developed the ADAPTIC software for nonlinear structural analysis.
- Research Interests:
- Multi-scale modeling of reinforced concrete and masonry structures
- Dynamic structural analysis and soil-structure interaction
- Simplified design-oriented modeling for structural engineering
- Affiliations:
- CSM Group
His consultancy work includes developing computational models for extreme loading scenarios and structural assessment. The ADAPTIC software handles geometric/material nonlinearities, steel/concrete structures, and fire/blast analysis.
