Professor Bashir Lwaleed is an active faculty member at the University of Southampton specializing in Experimental Pathology. His research focuses on urological disorders and oral health, particularly exploring inflammatory mechanisms in bladder diseases and the impacts of tobacco products on oral tissues. He leads investigations into novel therapeutic approaches including the use of Manuka honey derivatives for dermatological conditions.
Current research examines neuroimmune interactions in interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome and the pathological effects of electronic nicotine delivery systems. His work bridges clinical pathology with therapeutic innovation across multiple disciplines.
Professor Lwaleed currently supervises three PhD students in Health Sciences: Muhammadbakhoree Yusuh, Prapussara Sirikhansaeng, and Amal Oshaywi R Alanazi. His research group collaborates with the Bladder and Bowel Management Institute and the Institute for Life Sciences.
