Bashar Nuseibeh is a Professor of Computing at The Open University (Director of Computing Research 2002-2008) and a Professor of Software Engineering at Lero - The Irish Software Research Centre (Chief Scientist 2009-2012, 2017-2024). He also holds Visiting Professor roles at University College London and the National Institute of Informatics, Tokyo, Japan.
His research focuses on adaptive software engineering, requirements engineering, and security & privacy, with applications in adaptive systems, security requirements analysis, and mobile privacy. His work spans multiple disciplines, including logic programming (ICLP), human-computer interaction (CHI), natural language processing (MedNLP), and software engineering (ICSE/RE).

He has held editorial leadership positions, including Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering, Automated Software Engineering Journal, and ACM Transactions on Autonomous and Adaptive Systems (since 2017). He chaired the Steering Committee of ICSE and IFIP Working Group 2.9 on Requirements Engineering.
