Barry S. Zingman, M.D., is a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Medical Director of the AIDS Center at Montefiore Medical Center. He leads New York State’s largest multidisciplinary HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention program, encompassing the Center for Positive Living/ID Clinic, The Oval Center, and multiple inpatient/outpatient sites. His research focuses on HIV/AIDS, STIs, and new antiretroviral therapies, with over 75 grants/protocols as PI or Medical Director.
Education: BA in Biochemistry (Brandeis University, 1981), MD (New York University School of Medicine, 1985), Internal Medicine Residency (Boston City Hospital, 1988), and Infectious Diseases Fellowship (Boston University School of Medicine, 1991).
Research interests include HIV viral load assays, broadly-neutralizing antibodies, pneumococcal vaccine efficacy, and retention in HIV care. He directs a team of 6 study coordinators enrolling 200+ patients annually in clinical trials. Previously chaired NYS AIDS Institute Medical Care Criteria Committee and Quality of Care Advisory Committee.
Awards include the Leo M. Davidoff Society recognition for teaching excellence. Maintains clinical practice in Infectious Diseases, addressing HIV, STIs, post-surgical infections, tuberculosis, and more.
