Barry O’Neill is a Professor in the Political Science Department at UCLA. His research focuses on decision-making in social and political contexts, applying game theory to analyze foreign policy, conflict prevention, and international organization governance. He has held visiting positions at Stanford University’s Center for International Security and Cooperation and has taught at institutions including Yale, Northwestern, and York University.
Education: Ph.D. in Mathematical Psychology from the University of Michigan (1976).
Research emphasizes the role of national prestige in WMD proliferation, extensions of game theory for political applications, and debunking myths in public policy. His award-winning book *Honor, Symbols, and War* (1999) explores conflict dynamics. O’Neill’s current projects include a manuscript on longstanding public policy myths.
Teaching experience spans game theory, negotiation, and political psychology across multiple universities.
