Barry Marks serves as Professor of Accounting in the College of Business at the University of Houston-Clear Lake. He teaches core courses in government and non-profit accounting alongside individual income tax curriculum, and delivers professional development courses for the Houston Chapter of the Texas Society of CPAs each summer.
His research program focuses on state and local governmental accounting practices, public sector financial management systems, and geographic disclosure patterns among U.S. multinational corporations. This work has generated over 40 peer-reviewed journal publications examining accountability frameworks in public finance and multinational reporting transparency.
Professor Marks actively contributes to the accounting profession through his service as Historian for the Government-and-Non-Profit section of the American Accounting Association, where he documents the section's institutional history and professional evolution.
