Professor Barry Laird, affiliated with the University of Edinburgh's Institute of Genetics and Cancer, leads translational research in palliative medicine. His work focuses on the systemic inflammatory response in cancer patients and its role in symptoms like cachexia, fatigue, and pain. Clinically, he serves as a consultant in Palliative Medicine at the Edinburgh Cancer Centre and St Columba’s Hospice.
