Barry David Andrew

Barry David Andrew is a Professor at École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), where he has held academic positions since 2005, including Director of the Institute of Environmental Engineering (2017-2023). Previously, he served as Professor and Head of School at the University of Edinburgh (1998-2005, 2000-2002) and in academic roles at the University of Western Australia (1989-1998) and MIT (1996).

Research Interests: His work spans subsurface hydrology, contaminant transport, groundwater-surface interactions (e.g., coastal aquifers), and vadose zone modeling. He pioneered analytical solutions for Richards' equation and developed methods for reactive transport modeling in porous media.
