Barnett Berry is a Research Professor at the University of South Carolina (UofSC) and Founding Director of the Accelerator for Learning and Leadership for South Carolina (ALL4SC). His research focuses on teaching/learning conditions' impact on teacher retention and equity in educational outcomes. Previously held roles include high school teacher, RAND Corporation analyst, South Carolina Department of Education policy leader, UofSC professor, and consultant to the National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future.
He founded the Center for Teaching Quality, pioneering virtual networks for teacher leaders. Berry has authored over 120 peer-reviewed works and two influential books: TEACHING 2030 and Teacherpreneurs, outlining future visions for education systems. Recent publications include briefs on North Carolina's educator supply/demand dynamics, equitable education in high-poverty schools, and teaching conditions' criticality.
