Barnaby Crowcroft is an Assistant Professor of Humanities at the Hamilton School, University of Florida. He previously held postdoctoral and research fellowships at the Hoover Institution (Stanford University), the John F. Kennedy School of Government (Harvard University), the Clements Center for National Security (University of Texas-Austin), and the universities of Vienna and Berlin.

Dr. Crowcroft's research focuses on revisionist perspectives of the British Empire's dynamics in the Middle East and West Africa, the history of international alliances, and the evolution of human rights regimes. His current book project, The British Empire of Protectorates, under contract with Penguin Books, examines imperial structures from the 19th century through post-war decolonization.
His scholarly work appears in publications such as Viceregalism: Political Crises in the Post-war Commonwealth, Protection and Empire: A Global History, and The Historical Journal. He regularly contributes to the Literary Review and teaches courses on imperial history and decolonization.
