Barbie Wu is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Reed College's Division of the Arts. As an actor and educator, she holds an MFA in Acting from Southern Methodist University and focuses on contemporary plays written by playwrights from BIPoC and LGBTQIA communities.

Her scholarly work emphasizes inclusive theatre practices, and she actively incorporates marginalized voices into her teaching. Wu is a resident artist at Artists Repertory Theatre, where she performed the titular role in The Chinese Lady by Lloyd Suh and originated the role of Dr. May Zhou in E.M. Lewis's Magellanica. She collaborates with colleagues to foster a compassionate and collaborative environment for future theatre makers.
