Dr Barbara Yoxon is a Lecturer in International Politics at the University of Lancaster, affiliated with the Department of Politics, Philosophy and Religion. Her primary research focuses on authoritarian regimes, international conflict, and political prejudice, with a particular interest in autocratic stability influenced by global events and the rise of illiberal democracies in Central Europe. She also explores political psychology, examining individual-level and structural drivers of prejudice such as authoritarian personality traits and deprivation effects on anti-immigrant sentiment in Europe.
Her teaching includes modules like International Relations Theory and Practice and Research Methods in Politics. Dr Yoxon has been honored with the British International Studies Association Michael Nicholson Prize. Her work spans diverse topics from Chinese consumer behavior in authoritarian contexts to cross-national analyses of deprivation and prejudice.
