Barbara Wenzel

Dr. Barbara Wenzel serves as a Research Fellow at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) within the Department of Experimental Neurooncological Radiopharmacy, part of the Institute of Radio­pharma­ceutical Cancer Research. Her work focuses on developing radiopharmaceuticals for neurooncological applications, operating across HZDR's Dresden and Leipzig facilities.

Her research spans Radiochemistry, Neurooncology, and Radiopharmaceuticals with emphasis on Cancer Research and Theranostics. She specializes in experimental synthesis and preclinical evaluation of novel radiotracers targeting brain tumors, utilizing advanced radiochemistry techniques to address challenges in molecular imaging and targeted radionuclide therapy for central nervous system malignancies.

The Experimental Neurooncological Radiopharmacy department maintains specialized infrastructure for radiochemical synthesis, in vitro/in vivo testing, and preclinical validation of neurooncology-targeted radiopharmaceuticals, supporting translational research from bench to bedside.
