Barbara Tewksbury

Barbara Tewksbury is a Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Hamilton College, where she has been faculty for over 35 years. She teaches structural geology, tectonics, GIS, planetary geology, and a specialized course on geology in North Africa/Middle East. Her NSF-funded research focuses on carbonate bedrock structures in Egypt's Western Desert and subglacial volcanic formations in Iceland, utilizing satellite imagery and field work.

She leads significant geoscience education initiatives, having co-directed NSF's 'On the Cutting Edge' project for a decade. She has conducted workshops globally on curriculum design and developed widely-used teaching resources. Her research collaborations span multiple US and Egyptian universities including Missouri S&T, Alexandria University, and Assiut University.
